CMPA introduces new television-focused Indiescreen accolade

The TV Producer Indiescreen Award includes a $20,000 prize.

The Indiescreen Awards, started in 2006, will now feature three awards celebrating achievements on big and small screens.

The new TV Producer Indiescreen Award – which includes a $20,000 prize – will be presented in partnership with Canada Media Fund, and celebrates the achievements of an independent Canadian television media production company.

Award applications are open until July 11 and the 2025 honours will be presented as part of the Toronto International Film Festival on September 4.

The new award will be presented alongside the Feature Film Producer Indiescreen Award and the Kevin Tierney Emerging Producer Indiescreen Award. In September 2024, Martin Katz (pictured left) won the feature film award, while Ngardy Conteh George (pictured right) won the Jacob Tierney award.

“Whether on big screens or small, Canada’s independent producers consistently lead the way in creativity, innovation and excellence across both feature film and television production,” said Andrew Addison, CMPA SVP, strategic communications and member services, in a statement.

“The introduction of our new TV Producer Indiescreen Award underscores our commitment to celebrating the best and brightest across the full spectrum of world-class content that is produced by our members.”
