Netflix has forged a creative partnership with Letterkenny executive producer Patrick O’Sullivan (pictured).
The partnership will see O’Sullivan develop and produce comedy series for the streamer. He is already in development on multiple Canadian shows that have yet to be announced, according to a news release.
O’Sullivan served as an executive producer on multiple series with Toronto prodco New Metric Media, including the Crave comedy What Would Sal Do? and the Netflix and Citytv drama Bad Blood. He was also a production and development executive at CBC. O’Sullivan won a Canadian Screen Award in 2017 as an EP for Letterkenny.
“Patrick’s strong comedy track record and stellar reputation have made this strengthened partnership with him an easy decision,” said Danielle Woodrow, director, content for Netflix Canada, in a statement. “He has an incredible drive to develop and produce shows that audiences love and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead.”
O’Sullivan said the Netflix Canada team “have already proven to be super smart, supportive, and genuinely enthused about making amazing Canadian TV,” adding that he’ll be looking for more series to develop “with writers, producers and the creative community as a whole.”
Netflix greenlit an untitled Newfoundland series in February, with Josh Harnett announced as the series lead and EP last month. The streamer co-commissioned the teen drama Finding Her Edge with Family Channel back in January, which went into production in February.
