HBO’s The Last of Us, available in Canada through Crave, topped overall TV show demand in Canada mid-May as the series concluded its second season.
The post-apocalyptic drama, based on the video game series of the same name, was 57.4 times more in demand than the average TV series in Canada during the week of May 19 to 25, according to Parrot Analytics. The Last of Us‘s second season was primarily filmed in Vancouver and aired its final episode on May 25.
PBS’ Sesame Street, which airs on Treehouse and StackTV in Canada, landed in the overall No. 2 spot with a demand average of 49.2. In the U.S., season 55 will be the last season on Max as Warner Bros. Discovery has opted not to renew the show’s contract. Starting in season 56 and continuing through season 58, Netflix has acquired the series’ worldwide premiere rights as well as 90 hours of past episodes and the rights to develop video games for Sesame Street and its spinoff Sesame Street: Mecha Builders.
Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, available on Crave, Prime Video and illico+ in Canada, led digital originals in mid-May as the dystopian drama closed in on its May 27 series finale. The Handmaid’s Tale is based on Margaret Atwood’s 1985 book of the same name and held a demand average of 47.2.
Disney+’s Andor, which released its own series finale on May 13, landed at No. 2 on the digital originals chart with a demand average of 40.5. It was followed by Prime Video’s Hazbin Hotel, which scored a demand average of 32.5.
With the upcoming fourth season premiering on June 25, demand for Hulu’s The Bear, which streams in Canada on Disney+, landed the series in the No. 6 spot for digital originals in mid-May.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, another Hulu series available on Disney+ in Canada, marked its first appearance on the Hot Sheet, landing at the No. 7 spot with a demand average of 24.6. The reality series premiered its second season on May 15 and follows the lives of eight Utah-based Mormon social media influencers.

Parrot Analytics calculates its Top 10 lists using Demand Expressions, which are shown by using a metric that demonstrates how much more in-demand the top series are than the average TV show (linear, pay TV, SVOD and AVOD) in Canada. For example, a difference of 1x represents the market average and 10x means a series is 10 times more in demand than the average TV show in this market. Demand is defined as the total audience demand being expressed for a title within a market. Audience demand reflects the desire, engagement and viewership, weighted by importance; thus, a stream or download is a higher expression of demand than a “like” or comment.
