Ten Canadian producers will be heading to Barbados in June for Toronto-based CaribbeanTales Media Group (CTMG)’s second annual Cross Continental Forum.
The event, hosted in partnership with the University of West Indies at Cave Hill’s Department of Creative and Performing Arts, brings together producers from Canada, the U.S., the U.K., South Africa and various Caribbean nations such as Guyana and Barbados with creatives, entrepreneurs and the public from June 14 to 18.
The 10 Canadians are Jennifer Holness, Jennifer Podemski, Floyd Kane, Gail Maurice, Virinder Singh, Yejide Emioladipupo, Andrew Burrows-Trotman, Nauzanin Knight, Ife Alaba and George Tamakloe.
The forum launched in February 2024 , via CTMG’s partnership with Trinidad and Tobago and South Africa-based Imagine Media International and The University of the West Indies. The Canada Media Fund is among the funders of the event.
The theme of this year’s forum is “Decolonising Co-Production” and will explore ways to foster collaboration through the lens of the Global South.
“We’re creating a space where Global South producers from around the world can meet on our home soil to together shape new models of financing, storytelling, and ownership,” said CTMG founder Frances-Anne Solomon in a statement.
