CBC, Netflix and APTN have renewed North of North (Red Marrow Media, Northwood Entertainment) for season two.
The series and was co-commissioned by CBC and Netflix in association with APTN. Created by Stacey Aglok MacDonald and Alethea Arnaquq-Baril, it follows a young Inuk mother rebuilding her life in her small hometown.
North of North, exec produced by Toronto-based Northwood’s Miranda de Pencier, premiered Jan. 7 on CBC and APTN, and debuted at No. 9 on Netflix’s global top ten following its release on the streamer on April 10. It slid to No. 10 in its second week on Netflix, totaling 2.7 million viewers and broke into the top 10 on Netflix in 27 different countries. It was also the top new program on APTN lumi.
Other executive producers are Anya Adams, Susan Coyne and Garry Campbell.

The series required building Iqaluit’s first production studio, Arnaquq-Baril previously told Playback Daily.
