Burnaby, B.C.-based pubcaster Knowledge Network has appointed Sarah Jane Flynn as its executive producer of original programming.
Effective May, Flynn (pictured) is responsible for documentary commissions, development projects and second window pre-licenses. Flynn, who reports to president and CEO Michelle van Beusekom, is replacing Patrice Ramsay, who is retiring in May.
Flynn is relocating to Vancouver from Toronto, working part-time from Toronto in May before joining full-time starting Aug. 18, a Knowledge Network spokesperson told Playback Daily.
Prior to Knowledge, Flynn was an executive producer at Spontaneous Human Productions and, since 2023, a lecturer at the University of Toronto focused on financial management for arts leaders. She has also held roles at Paperny Entertainment as VP, content; and several roles at Shaw Media including senior director, original content and specials.
“[Flynn]’s expertise and finely honed business affairs skillsets will further strengthen our partnership with B.C. producers to bring exciting homegrown stories to our audiences,” said van Beusekom in a statement. “We are immensely grateful to Patrice who has led on this work for years, built tremendous relationships with the documentary production community and helped bring many outstanding original programs to Knowledge viewers.”
