The Banff World Media Festival (BANFF) has announced composer Hans Zimmer will be presented with the Career Achievement Award at the upcoming Rockie Awards.
As previously announced, the festival’s gala honours will be combined with the Rockie Awards International Program Competition on June 9.
Zimmer (pictured) will also take part in a panel session alongside members of Bleeding Fingers Music, the composer collective he co-founded in 2013. The members include Anže Rozman, Ho-Ling Tang, Jacob Shea, Kara Talve and Sami Goldberg.
Prior recipients of the Career Achievement Award include Alanis Obomsawin, Dan Rather, Christine Baranski, Larry King, Ed Asner, William Shatner, James Burrows and David Attenborough.
“Hans Zimmer has not only redefined cinematic music with his groundbreaking scores but has also revolutionized the industry through Bleeding Fingers, fostering a new generation of composers and crafting immersive soundscapes for film, television and beyond. His influence extends far beyond the screen, shaping the very heartbeat of modern entertainment,” said Jenn Kuzmyk, BANFF executive director and Playback publisher. “We are honored to celebrate his incredible career at BANFF.”
Additional Rockie Award Gala recipients will be announced at a later date. The 46th edition of BANFF runs from June 8 to 11 in Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Banff, Alta.
