Breaking Glass Pictures acquires Jevon Boreland’s Welcome

The psychological thriller follows a couple whose romantic getaway becomes a fight for survival.

Philadelphia-based distributor Breaking Glass Pictures has acquired the worldwide rights, excluding Canada, to Jevon Boreland’s (To Kill A Secret) psychological thriller Welcome.

The feature is produced by Toronto-based Dark Wolf Pictures in association with House Boreland Productions. It is written, directed and executive produced by Boreland.

Welcome stars Shailene Garnett (Diggstown), Emidio Lopes (Mea Culpa), Brianna Goldie (Hope/Less) and Emmanuel Kabongo (Sway). It follows a couple whose romantic getaway turns into a fight for survival when a past life comes back to haunt them.

The film was shot in Hamilton, Ont. from September to October 2023 with financing from the Canada Council of the Arts and private equity. Producers are Mark Taylor, Patricia Rastrullo, Kijhai Boreland and Anthony Hunos.

Welcome had its U.S. premiere at the Pan African Film Festival in L.A. and screened at the Toronto Black Film Festival in February. The film was released on VOD platforms on Feb. 11.
