Fifth Season hires Muriel Rosilio as director of sales for Canada

EXCLUSIVE: Fifth Season announced the newly created role along with a number of sales to broadcasters and streamers in Canada.

Fifth Season has hired former Wattpad Webtoons Studios exec Muriel Rosilio in the newly created role of director of sales for Canada.

Based in Toronto, Rosilio is responsible for monetizing Fifth Season content rights in Canada “across all media and languages,” according to a news release. She reports to Travis Webb, SVP sales, Americas.

Rosilio previously served as VP, global business development at Wattpad Webtoons Studios, where she secured first-look deals with Zeta Studios, Mediawan and Bavaria Fiction, and worked with Canadian partners such as CBC Gem and Junction Hammer. Prior to that, she spent more than a decade at distributor Filmoption International as VP, acquisitions and sales.

She founded the independent sales agency Farrago Media, which distributed titles such as Protocol Entertainment’s Goosebumps and The Saddle Club, and worked with YouTube creators to help build their revenue streams.

Fifth Season has secured a number of deals with Canadian partners in the last few months. It signed a multi-title deal with Paramount+ in Canada, which included the docuseries Marilyn Manson: Unmasked and the feature doc Michael Johnson: Super Man. Fifth Season also sold the Canadian broadcast rights for Irish crime drama Kin to Hollywood Suite.

The distributor inked a multi-title deal with Corus Entertainment for Roku original series such as Morimoto’s Sushi Master and Honest Renovations and U.K. titles Stacey Solomon’s Renovation Rescue and Katherine Ryan: Parental Guidance.

“Canada is an important growth area for us and a market where we already have deep roots and key partnerships, so it’s fantastic to be broadening the range of leading local players we’re collaborating with,” said Webb in a statement. “Furthermore, having Muriel join our team gives us a strong local presence and leader. With her strategic mindset, deep relationships, and wealth of market knowledge, we know she will add significant value to our business across both English- and French-speaking Canada.”
