The Quebec Film and Television Council (QFTC) has appointed Stéphane Cardin (pictured) as president and CEO.
Cardin’s term at the non-profit, which promotes the province’s audiovisual industry, begins Monday (Jan. 6) according to the Dec. 23 release.
Christine Maestracci, the organization’s former president and CEO, departed the QFTC earlier in September.
Prior to this appointment, Cardin spent nearly six years as Netflix’s director of public policy for Canada. He worked at the Canada Media Fund for more than a decade, including eight years as VP, industry and public affairs. Cardin also worked at the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles for more than nine years.
“We are confident that [Cardin’s] experience, strategic expertise and ability to build lasting relationships with various stakeholders in the audiovisual sector will be critical assets in furthering the development and promotion of our industry,” Nicolas Savoie, chair of the QFTC’s board of directors said in a statement.
