CMPA, IATSE Local 411 set tentative agreement

The new agreement is subject to ratification and covers craftservice providers and honeywagon operators in Ontario.

The Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) has set a tentative deal for a new collective agreement with craftservice providers and honeywagon operators in Ontario.

The CMPA announced Friday (Dec. 6) it has successfully concluded negotiations with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 411, establishing terms, conditions and rates for craftservice providers and honeywagon operators within the union.

The agreement needs to be ratified by Local 411 members and the CMPA board of directors. The details of the agreement will be presented to the respective groups “in the coming weeks,” according to a press release.

The current collective agreement expires on Dec. 31. The new agreement, if ratified, will expire on Dec. 31, 2027.

Sean Porter, the CMPA’s VP of national industrial relations and counsel, said in a statement that the agreement is “mutually beneficial” and “recognizes the vital role of IATSE Local 411 members in ensuring the smooth operation of productions in Ontario.”

Local 411 business agent Anne Paynter added that the agreement “meaningfully addresses many of our members’ priorities.”

“We thank the CMPA for their commitment to reach a fair agreement that provides stability for our members and the production industry in Ontario, both domestic and foreign service,” said Paynter.
