ID slates cheerleader true crime doc from Cream Productions

The doc examines the 1991 murder-for-hire plot of a Texas woman to eliminate her daughter's cheerleading rival.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s true-crime cable network Investigation Discovery (ID) has ordered a standalone documentary The Texas Cheerleader Murder Plot from Toronto-headquartered Cream Productions.

The story made headlines across the U.S. and even inspired a made-for-TV movie, the infamous 1991 case of a murder-for-hire plot concocted by a Texas woman to eliminate her daughter’s cheerleading rival remains shrouded in mystery. Thirty years after Wanda Holloway’s conviction, the two-hour doc examines what led to the events, and the aftermath.

The documentary — which debuts on Dec. 18 — features interviews with those closest to the crime, including Holloway’s daughter Shanna, who reveals her side of the story, as well as legal voices, law enforcement officers and reporters.

Cream Productions is also behind ID’s long-running Fear Thy Neighbor, which has aired on the network for nine seasons.
