Cutting Class, Lakeside producing adult animated comedy series

Not Safe For Work, currently in production, is created by Sam Chou and Ellery VanDooyeweert.

Toronto-based Cutting Class Media and North Bay, Ont.’s Lakeside Animation have unveiled the latest animated series from their 10-project partnership.

The 8 x 30-minute adult comedy Not Safe For Work, currently in production, is created by Sam Chou (Crime: The Animated Series) and Ellery VanDooyeweert (Brogan: Master of Castles). Both are co-showrunners, while Chou directs and VanDooyeweert serves as head writer.

Lakeside will handle animation services, while Cutting Class Media will oversee production and distribution.

The action-comedy series follows an assassin who learns of a hit put on her estranged father, who she’s then forced to take on a road trip along with her brother.

“Sam and Ellery are creators I’ve worked with and watched evolve as talent over the past decade. Their talent is undeniable and I’m excited to continue working with them on this project.” said Joshua Bowen, Cutting Class Media’s co-CEO and head of animation, in a statement.

The two companies announced their five-year partnership in August, which is meant to boost their production volume without relying on presales.

The other projects include the feature Matters Beyonds from Daniel C. Katz (Super Turbo Story Time). The companies are also producing partners and distributors on season three of Lapaire Productions’ short-form animated series peopleWatching.
