Quebec City’s ComediHa! Group and its subsidiaries will now be known as Just For Entertainment Group.
The consolidation and name change comes after a number of acquisitions, primarily the June acquisition of the Just For Laughs (JFL) Group assets.
Other prior acquisitions include the Les Boys (pictured) film and television franchise from Montreal-based Melenny Productions in 2020 and the February acquisition of the music and theatre company Martin Leclerc Productions.
The company’s distribution arm, Amuz Distribution, is currently at MIPCOM, which runs until Thursday (Oct. 24), with a JFL-backed slate including 375 x 30 minutes of JFL – Gags.
Founding president and CEO Sylvain Parent-Bédard also announced the ComediHa! Fest-Québec will now operate under the name Just For Laughs Festival – Quebec.
“Last June, our group acquired the biggest comedy brand on the planet, Just For Laughs. I’m proud that the head office of the world’s number one comedy group will now be based in Quebec City,” said Parent-Bédard in a statement.
Just for Entertainment encompasses a range of sectors such as festivals, live shows, tours, audiovisual content, digital platforms, artist representation and global content distribution.
