Docs For Change sets first feature with The Pink Pill

The feature documentary is directed by Aisling Chin-Yee and tackles the taboo topic of women's sexual health.

The Docs For Change Project has set its first documentary feature with The Pink Pill, from Abby Greensfelder’s Everywoman Studios.

The initiative was created in 2023 in a partnership between Catalyst, a Toronto-based for-profit organization for women creators, and the Knix Fund, a program created by the Canadian women’s underwear brand Knix in 2022. The funds are for organizations and storytellers aiming to shed light on period equity and eradicate period poverty.

The Pink Pill will explore women’s sexual health and follows the search to develop a women’s libido support drug as well as those against it.

The doc is currently in production with Toronto and Montreal-based Sphere Media and Aisling Chin-Yee (No Ordinary Man; pictured, left) directing. Sphere Abacus is the worldwide distributor.

“Although the doc looks at the story of a so-called female Viagra, it tells a much larger story about women’s healthcare and why it still isn’t given the same attention, funding and status as men’s,” said Catalyst founder Julie Bristow (pictured, right) in a statement. “We were so impressed with the quality of the pitches that came into Docs For Change that we’ll be looking to develop additional projects in the coming months.”

Catalyst also recently collaborated on Paid in Full: The Battle for Black Music, a three-part docuseries for BBC and CBC with Idris Elba’s Green Door Pictures, Zinc Media and Abacus Media Rights that premiered Sept. 21 on CBC Gem.
