GPM sells Highway Thru Hell segment rights to Banijay Rights

Banijay Rights has launched an official YouTube channel for the show following its FAST channel release earlier this year.

Banijay Rights has acquired segment rights to the long-running docuseries Highway Thru Hell from Vancouver’s Great Pacific Media (GPM), a subsidiary of Thunderbird Entertainment.

The agreement will see Paris-based Banijay license, distribute, publish and broadcast short-form segments and stories excerpted from the series, which is currently in pre-production on its 14th season.

Back in March, Banijay Rights launched a Highway Thru Hell-branded FAST channel in the U.K. and Australia. The mediaco also launched an official YouTube channel for the show in August and now publishes segments on social media platforms, including the official show page on Facebook.

Highway Thru Hell debuted on Discovery Canada in 2012 and now has produced more than 200 episodes. The series depicts the challenges faced by tow operators and rescue crews tasked with keeping North America’s most important trade routes open and is currently available on platforms across 180 territories. Banijay Rights is the international distributor.

“The official YouTube channel and an increased presence across social platforms will only strengthen the series and its brand,” said Richard Goldsmith, Thunderbird’s president of global distribution, in a statement.
