Global studio Fifth Season has picked up Canadian rights to Roku’s unscripted originals as part of an extension to the two companies’ existing partnership.
The deal sees L.A., New York and London-based Fifth Season handle international format and tape distribution for Roku’s unscripted original series, expanding into the Canadian and Latin American markets.
Roku series repped by Fifth Season under the deal include Honest Renovations (pictured) with Jessica Alba and Lizzy Mathis; Morimoto’s Sushi Master, starring Iron Chef‘s Masaharu Morimoto; and Meet Me in Rome from Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine.
Corus Entertainment is among the companies that have acquired multiple titles from the slate. Honest Renovations, Morimoto’s Sushi Master and Celebrity Family Food Battle, hosted by Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, were acquired by Corus for the launch of its rebranded lifestyle channels, Home and Flavour.
Home (currently HGTV Canada) and Flavour (currently Food Network Canada) will launch on Dec. 30 with a slate of original and acquired lifestyle shows. Corus’s rights to the HGTV and Food Network brands ends on Dec. 31, along with several of the rights to a number of series. The company has also acquired new content for Slice, following the loss of rights to certain Bravo shows.
Warner Bros. Discovery signed a separate licensing agreement with Rogers Communications for several brands, including Bravo, HGTV and Food Network. Rogers said it will launch its own channels on Jan. 1, 2025.
