SODEC selects 23 films for development funding

The development assistance programs helps fund writing and prototyping for fiction, documentary and animated films.

The Société de développement des entreprises culturelle (SODEC) has selected 23 films for funding under its development assistance program.

The projects include 12 feature-length narrative films, nine documentaries and two animated feature films and were selected from 92 eligible applications. The program provides support for screenwriting and prototyping for animated projects.

The narrative titles include @Leeexxxxiiiiii (Art et essai), written by Kristina Wagenbauer; Animals (Bêtes Lumineuses), by Sophie Farkas Bolla; L’affaire Morgentaler (Art et essai micro), by Rémi Dufresne; Le petit maître (Films du Boulevard), by Charles-Olivier Michaud; Les glaces (Chausseurs Films), by Rebecca Déraspe; and Mani et les Koumba (Films Blach), co-written by Benoit Lach and Garihanna Jean-Louis.

The other titles are Pizzly (CarpeDiem Film & TV), written by Grégory Baranès; Ravageur de cultures (Périphéria), by Gio Olmos; The Calling (Artémis Films), co-written by Alexandrine Khoury and Philippe Mckie; Une fin heureuse (Azimut Films), written by Catherine-Anne Toupin; and Wonderful Land (Productions Leitmotiv), by Natalie Kameef.

Additionally, the narrative film The benevolent ones (Avenida) received support for rewrites from Benoit Pilon and Marc Robitaille.

The documentary titles include Auxiliaires (Canopée Médias), written by Nicolas Lévesque; Bulletin 442-126-128 (Shootfilms), by Louise Leroux; Café 4L (Les Films de l’autre), by Halima Ouardiri; Dinosaures (Foyer Films), by Emilie Baillargeon; La faute à Farago (Super-Vilains), co-written by Régis Coussot and Nicolas-Alexandre Tremblay; and Les rescapés du paradis (Les Films de La Baie), by Bogdan Stefan.

The other documentary titles are Live Free and Die (Club Vidéo), written by Constance Chaput-Raby; Parizeau par Parizeau (Hyperzoom), by Marie Nadeau; and The Mystery Woman (Films Extérieur Jour), co-written by Florence Migneault and Aurélie Pollet.

The two animated films are La légende d’Emmac (Unité centrale), written and directed by Mélanie S. Dubois; and Marguerite et le duc (10th Ave Productions), written by Johanne Mercier and Pierre Greco and directed by Greco and Philippe Arseneau-Bussières.
