Sideshow, Janus Films acquire U.S. rights to The Shrouds

The deal for David Cronenberg's latest film comes ahead of its U.S. debut at the New York Film Festival.

Sideshow and Janus Films have acquired all U.S. rights to David Cronenberg’s latest feature The Shrouds.

The film, written and directed by Cronenberg, world premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May and recently had its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Its U.S. premiere is set for the New York Film Festival in October with a planned spring 2025 U.S. theatrical release.

The Shrouds is produced by Martin Katz of Toronto’s Prospero Pictures, Saïd Ben Saïd of Paris-based SBS Productions and Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent Productions. Sphere Films is the Canadian distributor.

Vincent Cassel (Black Swan; pictured) stars in the film as a grieving widower and businessman who invents a new technology to monitor the decomposing body of his wife.

The film is produced in association with Telefilm Canada, Ontario Creates, Eurimages and Canal+.
