Principle photography is underway on Montreal writer-director Marianne Métivier’s debut feature Une Splendeur de vivre (A Splendour of Living).
Filming started on Aug. 5 and will continue until Sept. 7 in Morin-Heights, Oka and Côte-des-neiges in Montreal. A few days of filming are planned in the Philippines in November, according to a news release.
The film follows four female characters who are transformed by an encounter and choose to close or open a new cycle of their lives.
The production features an international cast, including French actors Camille Rutherford (Anatomy of a Fall) and Garance Marillier (Grave), Quebec actors Victor Trelles Turgeon, Émile Schneider and Amaryllis Tremblay, as well as Filipino actors Kyrie Samodio, Sue Prado and Enchong Dee.
The film is produced by Montreal-based Geneviève Gosselin-G under her Le Foyer Films banner, with France’s Alexa Rivero of Altamar Films and Wilfredo Manalang of Manila-based FUSEE executive producing.
The film is financed by SODEC, Telefilm Canada and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. H264 is the Canadian distributor.
