The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has unveiled the full lineup for its Industry Selects programme.
The 10 selected films will be screened for accredited industry and buyers as part of the Industry Selects sidebar. These films are available for worldwide acquisition.
The two Canadian features included in the programme are Nik Sexton’s Skeet (pictured), an English-Arabic language film produced by Mary Sexton under her Rink Rat Productions banner. The screenplay is written by Mira Hamour, Eyad Sakkar and Nik Sexton.
The film tracks the unlikely friendship of an ex-con and a Syrian newcomer as they face their demons and seek a fresh start in Newfoundland.
Skeet will have its world premiere at the Atlantic International Film Festival.
In Sergio Navarretta’s Yuppie, a man relocates to the farm he inherited from his father where he becomes embroiled in a feud with his beekeeping neighbor.
The film is produced by Taconic Pictures North and is written by Christian Majewski, who also executive produces alongside stars Brennan Clost and Lauren Holly. Danny Roth is the producer.
TIFF runs from Sept. 5 to 15.
