Production has wrapped on Canadian filmmaker and VFX artist Ben Pickles’ first feature, Any Other World.

Principal photography for the sci-fi drama, written and directed by Pickles, took place in Vancouver, from July 15 to Aug. 10.

Any Other World stars Bruce Greenwood (Fall of the House of Usher), Erin Karpluk (Being Erica,) and Graham Verchere (Stargirl). In the film, a troubled teenager’s father dies in a car crash; however, to the teenager’s surprise, his father’s reflection managed to survive.

The film is being co-produced by Dylan Collingwood, Matthew Clarke and David Milchard from Vancouver-based production company Tilt 9 Entertainment along with producer Thomas Emann from prodco Tommy Does Everything. Rachel Talalay (Doctor Who) serves as executive producer.

Financing was primarily raised through private equity, but also utilized tax credits and support from Creative BC’s production fund.

The film does not currently have a distributor or sales agent. Producers said it is expected to be released in September 2025.
