Toronto-based prodcos Wildling Pictures and Little Mama Media have optioned the international bestselling novel Woman on the Edge by Samantha M. Bailey for a series adaptation.
In the novel, a woman’s life changes forever when a complete stranger begs her to take her baby, then the distraught mother jumps in front of an oncoming train, making the woman a murder suspect.
Further details around script writers and casting are set to be announced later this year.
Wilding Pictures launched a TV division last year. The slate includes the screen adaption of the bestselling book A Death at The Party by Amy Stuart with screenwriter Joanne Sarazen (Backspot, Tammy’s Always Dying).
Wildling Pictures previously made a name for itself in features and has produced original films such as Young Werther and the thriller See For Me.
Little Mama Media’s TV slate includes the CBC Gem and ITVX series Something Undone.
Wildling development executive Natalie Urquhart said “the appeal and potential to develop Woman on the Edge into a TV series is undeniable,” in a statement.
Jordan Hayes, Little Mama Media founder and producer, added: “Samantha M. Bailey has created fierce, complex characters and we cannot wait to bring this captivating narrative to the screen.”
