Toronto-headquartered Neshama Entertainment has inked a deal with Irish prodco Zanzibar Films to adapt The Inishowen Mysteries book series from bestselling author Andrea Carter.
The scripted miniseries is currently in development, with a plan to shoot in Ireland later this year. The project was unveiled today (July 9) by Neshama president and CEO Arnie Zipursky and Zanzibar Films founder Edwina Forkin.
The Inishowen Mysteries follows a solicitor who runs the Northerly-most law practice in Ireland, where she is launched into a world of mysteries and crime. As she works alongside the community, she realizes she can’t outrun her past or the guilt that consumes her.
The miniseries will be a Canada/Ireland copro with Neshama Entertainment, Zanzibar Films and Galway-based producer Ralph Christians.
“We’re excited to be teaming up with Edwina and Ralph on Andrea Carter’s popular Inishowen book series,” said Zipursky in a statement. “From its captivating blend of legal intrigue and thrilling crime to its otherworldly Irish landscape, Inishowen promises to be a bold new drama series. We’re thrilled to have such strong creative partners along for the ride.”
Fox Entertainment Studios’ MarVista Entertainment is a shareholder in Neshama, with Fox Entertainment Global handling international distribution for content developed and produced under the Neshama banner, with Neshama distributing within Canada.
Under her Zanzibar banner, Forkin has produced more than 41 film and TV productions. She is also a partner of Treehouse Media, an international production company offering finance to foreign filmmakers. Christians has created, written, produced and coproduced multiple projects, including the Irish crime-drama film franchise Jack Taylor.
