Filming has wrapped in Montreal on Émile Gaudreault’s comedy feature Menteuse.
Principal photography on the film, which is a spinoff of the box-office hit Menteur, took place in Montreal and surrounding areas before wrapping on June 21. The film is slated for a summer 2025 premiere, according to a news release.
Menteuse is directed by Gaudreault, and written by Gaudreault, Éric K. Boulianne and Sébastien Ravary. Gaudreault produces through his Films du Lac banner alongside André Dupuy and Marie-Alexandra Forget of Amalga.
Menteuse centres on a woman who compulsively lies to keep everyone happy until those lies become a reality. The cast includes Anne-Élisabeth Bossé (pictured left) and Antoine Bertrand (pictured right), Catherine Chabot, Luc Senay, Véronique Le Flaguais and Didier Lucien, who were all part of the original film.
New additions to the cast are Rémy Girard, Pierrette Robitaille, Monika Pilon, Karl Walcott, Pascale Desrochers, Martin Drainville and Lamia Benhacine.
The 2019 film Menteur was a box-office hit in Quebec, earning more than $6.2 million. It was also Playback’s 2019 Film of the Year and picked up for an adaptation in France by Gaumont.
Menteuse is produced with the support of Telefilm Canada, SODEC, Radio-Canada and provincial and federal tax credits. Immina Films is the distributor.
