Vancouver-headquartered LGBTQ+ streaming service OUTtv is expanding on its slate of U.K. original content with the commissioning of a new documentary series, Building Betty & Joan’s, set to premiere on OUTtv and OUTflix later in 2024.
The docuseries (6 x 30 minutes; pictured) is produced by Live at the Queer Comedy Club and Stand Up Specials London prodco Milli Productions.
The show will go behind the scenes of the conceptualization and grand opening of the renowned London Queer Comedy Club’s new home, Betty & Joan’s, as the founders battle difficult contractors, problematic regulations and an ever-expanding budget.
OUTtv is also launching a channel on Apple TV+ in the U.K., available as an add-on for Apple TV+ subscribers. Branded OUTflix across the UK, the launch is an extension of OUTtv’s partnership with Apple TV+ in the U.S. and Canada, where it has been available as a channel since 2021. Additionally, OUTtv has also secured a partnership with global AVOD platform Wedotv for a pop-up channel in celebration of Pride Month 2024.
