Daniel Bekerman’s Knight’s Camp sets lead cast, creatives

Judy Greer and Sophia Lillis are attached to star in the dark comedy directed by Kyle Rideout.

Producer Daniel Bekerman is in the works on his next feature, Knight’s Camp.

Billed as a dark comedy, Knight’s Camp hails from Toronto-based filmmaking duo Kyle Rideout and Josh Epstein (Adventures in Public School) who co-wrote the script, with Rideout directing. Judy Greer (13 Going on 30, Ant-Man) and Sophia Lillis (It, Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves) are attached to star.

Bekerman, Chris Yurkovich (Slash/Back) and Jordan Hart (I, Object) are producing for Good Question Media in association with Scythia Films, along with Epstein.

Set in Scotland, the film follows four bubble-wrapped teens at a medieval-themed summer camp. On the eve of the camp’s famous Battle of Twin Bridge re-enactment, the teens ignite an old legend and are accidentally transported to the real battle in 1297 A.D., where they are tasked with saving one of their ancestors to preserve the future of their family lineage.

“I am a fan of Josh and Kyle’s work, I’ve always loved time travel movies, and the intersection with nerd culture is super fun,” Bekerman tells Playback Daily. “It also has a sneak up on you heartfelt aspect that I loved.”

Casting is currently underway. As of press time, the start date and locations for filming were still being determined. The producers are currently seeking copro partners, according to Bekerman.

Greer is represented by CAA, Artists First, Birch Public Relations and Fred Toczek. Lillis is represented by CAA, Untitled Entertainment and Ryan Levine at Jackoway Austen Tyerman. Rideout and Epstein are represented by Echo Lake Entertainment and The Jennifer Hollyer Agency.

Good Question Media and Scythia Films also recently announced The Eden Express from writer-director Daniel Cockburn, which is based on the memoir of the same title by Mark Vonnegut and true events that explore life with mental illness. LevelK is representing the global sales and Stephen Fry will serve as an executive producer.

Bekerman was recently at the Cannes Film Festival for the world premiere of Canada/Ireland copro The Apprentice, a biopic of Donald Trump.
