SODEC invests $7.5M via program for digital immersive producers

The program supports Quebec-based companies focused on the production of digital immersive experiences.

The Société de Développement des Entreprises Culturelles (SODEC) has selected 17 Quebec-based companies for support under its newly-launched program for producers focused on digital immersive experiences.

The companies will share a total of $7.5 million. The program, launched in fall 2023, provides assistance to companies developing and producing original digital experiential content for the local market.

The initiative covers up to 75% of eligible expenses, with a maximum amount of $500,000 per business.

The selected companies in this round include Aatoaa, Andraos & Mongiat, Creo, Creos experts-conseils, Gentilhomme, Quartier des spectacles International, Moment Factory and Lucion Média.

Rounding out the list are Normal Studio, Oasis immersion, Studio Phi, Production figure 55, mirari, Iregular, Felix & Paul Studios, TKNL and Tobo.

The program was launched in consultation with the Quebec digital sector. It is aimed at companies that create content intended for non-traditional distribution channels and have a catalogue of work in formats such as VR, immersive and/or interactive scenographies, as well as interactive products and experiences.

The selection process involved an external committee of creative sector experts, according to a news release.

A total of 50 applications were received in this round of the program.
