Production is currently underway in and around Calgary on season three of the Numera Films-produced web series Abracadavers.
Filming began in mid April and is expected to wrap on May 27, according to a news release.
Season three is directed by Alberta-based Numera’s co-founder Morgan Ermter, Reamonn Joshee and Anna Cooley. Producers include Ermter and Numera’s Griffin Cork and Jesse Lipscombe.
The series follows a group of friends as they navigate life and learn to deal with their superpowers. The cast includes Cork, Lipscombe, Joshee, Jade Robinson, Enayat Ahmady and Cassandra Naud.
Filming locations for season three include the John Scott Ranch in Longview, the Atlas Coal Mine in Drumheller, the Sundre & District Museum (in collaboration with the Mountainview Regional Film Office) and the old Greyhound Bus Station in Calgary.
Abracadavers is produced with the support of the Canada Media Fund (CMF).
“Each new season is a new opportunity to reach a wider audience and things are boding well so far,” said Cork in a statement, adding that “since our previous partner, The Fantasy Network, went under, we’ve been chatting with an exciting collection of Canadian broadcasters and platforms in collaboration with our new distributor to find a new home for the series on our home turf.”
The series is set to land in Spain, the Middle East and Africa soon, according to a news release. It is available on Amazon Freevee, Apple TV, Roku, Tubi, and Cineverse in the U.S.
The first two seasons of Abracadavers picked up awards at festivals such as the Buenos Aires International Film Festival, L.A. Web Fest, D.C. Web Fest, as well as the Alberta Media Production Industries Association Rosie Awards.
