Production is about to get underway on a Christmas-themed feature based on the Radio-Canada series L’oeil du cyclone.
Le cyclone de noel is produced by KOTV will begin filming Sunday (April 14) in Quebec and run until May 7. It will be the first original film for Radio-Canada streaming platform Ici.Tou.TV Extra, according to a news release.
The film is directed by Alain Chicoine (Le cœur a ses raisons) from a screenplay by Dominic Anctil, Marie-Élène Grégoire and Louis-Philippe Rivard. Louis Morissette, Mélanie Viau and Louis-Philippe Drolet are executive producers.
L’oeil du cyclone follows a woman who deals with the daily mental struggles of being a single mother of three. The film focuses on some of the hardships that come with preparing for Christmas.
Le cyclone de noel features a large part of the series cast, including Christine Beaulieu, Véronique Cloutier, Patrick Hivon, Catherine Souffront, Danielle Proulx, Luc Senay, Emi Chicoine, Juliette Aubé and Joey Bélanger.
The film will be distributed theatrically by Les Films Opale and KO Distribution and is set for release on Nov. 8 throughout Quebec before landing on Ici.Tou.TV Extra.
Radio-Canada and KOTV have also confirmed that a fifth season of L’oeil du cyclone will be offered on Ici.Tou.TV Extra in winter 2025.
