Vancouver-headquartered OUTtv is expanding its reach in Europe via its newly-rebranded streaming service.
The Froot.tv direct-to-consumer platform has been renamed as OUTflix, the company announced Tuesday (April 9). The subscription-based streamer originally launched in the U.K. and Ireland in 2020, and has now expanded to the Nordics in a deal with TV distributor Allente.
The expanded regions include Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. Subscriptions cost £2.99 (about C$5.15) per month, according to a news release.
As part of the expansion, OUTflix unveiled the commission of a new U.K. original, Stand Up Specials London (5 x 45 minutes), which features comics such as James Barr, Heleana Blackwell and David Ian. The special is produced by London-based Milli Productions.
The streamer’s existing U.K. originals include Live at The Queer Comedy Club, Somina Fombo’s Some Girls Hate Dresses and Bender Defenders. Other original OUTtv shows include For the Love of DILFs and Drag Queen of the Year (pictured).
OUTtv’s streaming offerings include the FAST channel OUTtv Proud, which is available on Freeview, Plex and Netgem in the U.K. via Channelbox.
Brad Danks, CEO of OUT Media Group and OUTtv, said in a statement that the name change will unify the OUTtv brand as it expands “across Europe and beyond.”
