Frantic Films, 5’7 Films form strategic partnership

The prodcos will co-develop and coproduce scripted and unscripted projects together under the deal.

Canadian indies Frantic Films and 5’7 Films have formed a co-development and coproduction deal.

The strategic partnership is a multi-project agreement that includes both scripted and unscripted formats, according to a news release.

Frantic Films, based in Toronto and Winnipeg and led by CEO Jamie Brown (pictured), has a varied catalogue of both scripted and unscripted titles, including Crave and APTN’s Don’t Even and CBC’s Baroness von Sketch Show, The Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down, and Still Standing.

Toronto’s 5’7 Films, led by co-founders Adam Rodness and Stu Stone, is the prodco behind the mockumentary Faking a Murderer and the heist comedy film Vandits.

Frantic Films president Stephanie Fast said in a statement that the creative storytelling at 5’7 Films “aligns with our commitment to pushing creative boundaries.”

Rodness added that the partnership is “an incredible opportunity to amplify our creative impact.”

The deal marks the latest partnership for 5’7 Films, which signed a two-year multi-project slate agreement with Hollywood Suite last year. The slate includes a paranormal follow-up to Faking a Murderer, titled Don’t F**ck With Ghosts.
