Production has begun in Sudbury, Ont. on Ballistic, a new action thriller written and directed by Chad Faust.
Ballistic is produced by Thomas Michael of Fella Films (Backcountry), and executive produced by David Tish and Lee Nelson of L.A.’s Envision Media Arts (The Ice Road), and Roman Kopelevich and Crystal Hill of L.A.-based Red Sea Media.
The film stars Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) as a grieving mother who discovers her son was killed in action by a bullet manufactured in the ammunition facility she works for. Amybeth McNulty (Anne with an E) also stars.
Toronto’s Photon Films is distributing the film in Canada, with Red Sea Media handling worldwide sales. The company has launched sales at the European Film Market in Berlin. The sales rights deal was negotiated by Kopelevich on behalf of Red Sea Media and Danny Webber of law firm Hall Webber on behalf of Fella Films.
The film was financed by L.A.’s Bondit Media Capital and the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation. Production is set to wrap in mid-April.
Faust’s previous credits include writing and directing the mystery thriller Girl, executive producing The Billionaire Boys Club and writing the upcoming Dangerous Odds, directed by Marc Forster.
“This is a compelling script about the impact on everyday families of our military industrial complex and America’s near-constant state of war,” said Kopelevich in a statement. “The film is a perfect fit for international audiences around the globe.”
