Neon International has boarded international sales for Halifax-based director Jason Buxton’s latest film.
Sharp Corner is a Canada/Ireland coproduction, written and directed by Buxton, currently in post-production. The film will make its market debut at the European Film Market, which begins today (Feb. 15) in Berlin.
Producers on the film are Paul Barkin of Toronto’s Alcina Pictures, Jason Levangie and Marc Tetreault of Halifax-based Shut Up & Colour Pictures, Susan Mullen of Dublin’s Kobalt Films, as well as Buxton and Cameron Maclaren.
Sharp Corner stars U.S. actor Ben Foster and Vancouver-born Cobie Smulders (pictured). The plot follows a family man who becomes obsessed with saving car accident victims from a sharp corner located in front of his house. It’s based on the short story of the same name by Canadian author Russell Wangersky.
Elevation Pictures is distributing the film in Canada, with Noah Segal and Adrian Love attached as executive producers.
Sharp Corner is Buxton’s second feature. His first film, Blackbird, won Best Canadian First Feature Film at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2013.
