Cineflix Rights appoints Greg Johnson as EVP Americas, APAC

Johnson will oversee the company’s scripted and unscripted sales strategy in the newly created role.

Cineflix Rights has appointed veteran TV exec Greg Johnson to the newly created role of EVP Americas and Asia Pacific, as the U.K. distributor continues to grow its international business activities.

Based in L.A. and reporting to Cineflix Rights CEO Tim Mutimer, Johnson (pictured) will be charged with overseeing the company’s scripted and unscripted sales strategy across North America, LatAm, Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

Working alongside head of scripted James Durie and SVP of acquisitions and coproductions Richard Life, he will also be responsible for identifying creative partners and IP, as well as securing financing from U.S. and global networks and other sources to package and greenlight projects through coproductions, pre-sales, and co-financing.

As a member of the senior leadership team, Johnson will also have a wider remit to exploit commercial and strategic growth opportunities for Cineflix Rights, along with Cineflix Media and its joint venture companies and producer partners.

Johnson arrives at Cineflix from ITV Studios, where, as EVP of distribution for the Americas, he led the L.A.-based team to distribute all global partnerships content across the U.S., Canada and Latin America, as well as managing the company’s U.S. network relationships and collaborating with creative partners on international format and drama coproduction and financing models in the U.S. Prior to ITV Studios, he held executive sales, distribution and coproduction roles at BBC Worldwide Americas and Disney-ABC International Television Asia Pacific.

“Cineflix Rights occupies a unique position in the global distribution landscape as a supplier of premium scripted and factual content across a wide range of genres,” said Johnson in a release.

“I’m excited to be joining the dynamic team under Tim at this time in a newly created role, and to help facilitate Cineflix’s growth ambitions in the U.S. and across the globe. I look forward to working with great producers and finding key strategic partnerships and funding models that will grow Cineflix’s slate of fantastic content.”
