Radio-Canada acquires broadcast rights to Rêver en néon

The feature film debut of Marie-Claire Marcotte is now in production in Sudbury, Ont.

R adio-Canada has acquired the broadcast rights to writer-director Marie-Claire Marcotte’s debut feature Rêver en néon.

The drama is now in production in Sudbury, Ont., and is scheduled to wrap at the end of February.

Rêver en néon is produced by Marcotte under her Toronto-based banner Fittonia Films and Corey Loranger of Calibou Films. Prospero Pictures’ Martin Katz is an executive producer.

The film is based on Marcotte’s play Flush, and tells the story of an eight-year-old girl who begins to unravel the truth about her absent mother’s identity through her imaginary world and her best friend.

Producer Loranger is part of the film’s cast, which also includes newcomers Maélya Boyd (pictured left) and Maïna-Rose Caméus (pictured right), Genevieve Langlois (Eaux Turbulentes) Sheila Ingabire-Isaro (Paris, Paris) and Caroline Raynaud (La Vie en Rose).

Rêver en néon is funded by Telefilm Canada, the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation, Ontario Creates, and Radio-Canada.
