Veteran media executives Solange Attwood and Asha Daniere are launching an internationally focused studio business, Serial Maven Studios, with Attwood (pictured left) taking the role of CEO and Daniere (right) as president.
The new company, headquartered in Toronto, is dedicated to exploring new models for the development, financing, production, distribution and monetization of original unscripted intellectual property.
According to a release announcing the venture, Serial Maven will partner with talent and creative producers, using a customized approach to access co-financing, coproduction and commissioning opportunities, with the goal of delivering premium content and high returns on investment, as well as accessing financing from a globally diversified marketplace.
Attwood was formerly EVP of Blue Ant International, building the business from inception into a globally recognized brand. During her time there she led the company’s strategic direction, spearheaded and managed coproductions, pre-sales and worldwide sales activities and led its expansion and opening sales offices in Toronto, London, New York, Singapore and Australia.
Daniere, meanwhile, is a seasoned media exec with expertise leading mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financing, corporate governance and transformational transactions for a diverse collection of companies. She is a corporate lawyer by training and has played a key role in increasing the value of multiple start-up and small-cap companies in the media sector.
“With a focus on discoverable and high-quality programming, we are looking forward to sharing our slate from our partners with our global network,” said Attwood in a statement.
