Pinecone & Pony, Jane win Children’s & Family Emmys

The second annual Children's & Family Emmy Awards were held in L.A. on Dec. 16 and 17.

Canadian series and talents walked away with Children’s & Family Emmy awards over the weekend.

Apple TV+ animated series Pinecone & Pony, produced by Toronto’s First Generation Films and Dreamworks Animation, won the award for Outstanding Younger Voice Performance in a Preschool, Children’s or Young Teen Program for Maria Nash (pictured).

Pinecone & Pony is based on the Kate Beaton children’s book The Princess and the Pony, with Nash starring as the titular Pinecone who goes on adventures with her pony to become warriors. Nash was in attendance at the second annual Children’s & Family Emmy Awards in L.A. on Sunday (Dec. 17) to accept the award.

Fellow Apple TV+ series Jane won Outstanding Visual Effects for a Live Action Program at the Children’s & Family Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony on Saturday (Dec. 16). The environmentally-focused series is produced by Sinking Ship Entertainment and the Jane Goodall Institute, and is inspired by Goodall’s mission to protect endangered species.

Vancouver’s Heather Laura Gray won an Emmy for Outstanding Choreography on Nickelodeon’s Monster High: The Movie at the creative arts ceremony. Gray was also nominated in the category for her work on the musical comedy film Snow Day.

Meanwhile, Toronto-born voice actor Eric Bauza won Outstanding Voice Performance in a Preschool Program for his work as multiple characters in Cartoon Network’s Bugs Bunny Builders.
