A boost in demand for Netflix’s reality competition series Squid Game: The Challenge helped it reach No. 2 on the digital originals chart in Canada.
The show, which is inspired by Netflix’s hit drama series Squid Game, was 28.96 times more in demand than the average TV series in Canada for the week of Nov. 27 to Dec. 3, according to Parrot Analytics. The series gained more than 10 demand points from last week’s chart, where it sat at No. 9.
Prime Video’s Invincible (38.61) kept its top spot on the digital chart, as well as the overall TV chart, despite a more than nine-point dip in demand points from the previous week. Crave’s Letterkenny also held onto its third spot on the digital chart with an average of 27.64 demand points.
Netflix’s anime series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off was a new entry on the digital chart, coming in at No. 5 with an average of 22.38 demand points. L.A.-based Canadian cartoonist Bryan Lee O’Malley and U.S. filmmaker BenDavid Grabinski co-created the show based on O’Malley’s Scott Pilgrim graphic novel series.
On the overall TV chart, Disney+’s Loki (26.04) dropped from No. 2 to No. 10. The Japanese anime series Jujutsu Kaisen (31.59) took the second spot, with Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty (30.61) completing the top three.
Squid Game: The Challenge entered the overall chart at No. 5, while TVOKids’ Paw Patrol (26.76) re-entered the list at No. 8.
