Netflix Canada is expanding its content team with the hire of former Entertainment One (eOne) exec Chris Bell.
Joining as manager, content in January 2024, Bell will work with content directors Tara Woodbury and Danielle Woodrow to develop and produce the upcoming slate of scripted content, with Bell connecting with Canadian producers and creators to source new scripted material.
Hailing from eOne, where he was VP, scripted development, Bell comes to the role with more than 15 years of experience in the industry. He’s worked as a studio executive, private broadcaster and independent producer.
He was responsible for eOne’s production slate of scripted series across Canada, including the launch of Global’s Mary Kills People and Private Eyes, and CTV’s Saving Hope.
Bell previously worked at Corus Entertainment, where he had a hand in bringing Call Me Fitz, Less Than Kind and Emmy-nominated show Sensitive Skin (starring Kim Cattrall) to its specialty networks.
The hire marks the second expansion of Netflix’s Canadian team in the last two weeks, with former CBC production executive Edythe Yee joining as a production manager this month.
