Deals: Cineflix Rights, Pink Is In, Boat Rocker, Gusto

More global buyers board the Leonard Cohen drama So Long, Marianne, Canadian comedy Pink Is In heads south via Tubi deal, plus more.

Cineflix Rights has announced additional buyers for the upcoming drama series So Long, Marianne, about the love story between Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen and Marianne Ihlen.

The series was pre-sold to ITVX for the U.K., linear channels Cosmote TV and Star Channel for Greece, and Movies Best HD for Cyprus. Meanwhile, FabFiction, run by German public broadcasting network ARD, is now attached as a co-producer alongside Crave and Norway’s NRK.

So Long, Marianne is produced by Montreal’s Connect3 Media, Oslo-based Redpoint Productions and Athens-based Tanweer Productions, with Cineflix Rights handling worldwide distribution. U.S. actor Alex Wolff (Hereditary) and Norwegian actor Thea Sofie Loch Næss (The Last Kingdom) portray Cohen and Ihlen, respectively.

Pink Is In

Bell Fibe TV1 comedy Pink Is In has been acquired for the U.S. by Fox-owned AVOD platform Tubi, with plans to expand to Canada and Australia. The short-form series from Pink One Productions is also available on Prime Video on VOD in the U.S. and the U.K., producer Kim Lombard tells Playback Daily.

Created by Lisa Crawford, who is also a producer on the series, Pink Is In is set in a dysfunctional women’s prison in Hamilton, Ont. The comedy has run for three seasons on Bell Fibe TV1, and is distributed by Beverly Hills, Calif.’s Porter + Craig Film and Media Distribution.

Pink One Productions is currently working on a prequel film to the series, titled Big Stones, which is written by Lombard.

Boat Rocker

Toronto-headquartered Boat Rocker has partnered with Go See TV to launch a U.K.-based FAST channel on My Binge Channel, titled The Fast Lane, which will also become available as a standalone on Freeview early next year.

The aptly named channel includes hours of adventure and automobile-themed content, including Tougher Than it Looks, Escape or Die, and Junk Raiders.

WildBrain

WildBrain has inked a bunch of fresh sales for 2D-animated preschool series Brave Bunnies, which just rolled out a second season in June.

TeleTOON+ (Poland), Channel 5’s preschool block Milkshake! (UK), Rai YoYo (Italy) have picked up all 104 episodes of the toon, with South Korean linear net CNC Media International and Australian SVOD Stan starting with just season one (52 x seven minutes).

The second season of Brave Bunnies is a coproduction between its creator Glowberry (Ukraine), WildBrain (Canada), KidsMe (Italy) and Anima Kitchent (Spain). WildBrain acquired the IP last year from Glowberry, which coproduced season one with Anima.

Gusto

Culinary channel Gusto TV is launching a new FAST channel in Canada through The Roku Channel. The channel went live on Wednesday (Nov. 29) and includes a wide array of Gusto’s food content, from practical everyday cooking advice to spotlights on gourmet culinary creations. Chris Knight, president and CEO of Gusto Worldwide Media, said the partnership with Roku ” allows us to bring our top-notch food content to even more Canadians,” in a statement.
