Mittens & Pants pounces on U.S. streaming deals

The preschool series has been acquired by Peacock for Q1 2024, and will land on HappyKids and Kidoodle.TV this month.

Preschool series Mittens & Pants is expanding its paw print in North America with acquisitions from a number of streaming platforms for the U.S. market.

The 39 x 7-minute first season has been sold to NBCUniversal’s Peacock, and will land on the service in Q1 2024.

The series has also been picked up by several ad-supported streaming platforms, including Calgary-based Kidoodle.TV; HappyKids, from Menlo Park, Calif.’s Future Today; and San Francisco-based Common Sense Media’s Sensical. HappyKids will launch the series on Friday (Nov. 17), with Kidoodle.TV following on Nov. 30.

Mittens & Pants follows the titular puppy and kitten duo as they go on adventures in their animal-filled town. It is produced by Toronto’s Windy Isle Entertainment and was co-commissioned by CBC Kids and Sky Kids, with Thunderbird Distribution handling global sales of the series.

The series was renewed by CBC Kids for a second season, which premiered in Canada in July. The first season has previously been sold to a number of territories, including France, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Production support for Mittens & Pants is provided via the Canada Media Fund, Ontario Creates, the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit and the Shaw Rocket Fund.
