Kids in the Hall alum Kevin McDonald boards Paralegal

McDonald joins Bruce McCulloch and the TallBoyz troupe on the Lakeside Animation Studios series, which is currently in pre-development.

Kevin McDonald has joined fellow Kids in the Hall alum Bruce McCulloch in the cast Lakeside Animation Studios’ adult-oriented animated series Paralegal.

Paralegal is currently in pre-development with a planned 10 x 22-minutes episode count and 50% financing already raised, according to a spokesperson for the Toronto-based animation and post-production studio.

The cast of Paralegal also includes Canada’s Got Talent finalist Courtney Gilmour, as well as Blair, Guled Abdi, Franco Nguyen and Vance Banzo, whom collectively form the comedy troupe the Tallboyz. The initial cast for the project was announced in June.

Paralegal is created by Tim Blair (Tallboyz), Jeremy Dobski (Just For Laughs) and Matt Lyon (Arctic Dogs). Lakeside’s head of production Courtney Wolfson and CEO Iouri Stepanov are slated to produce. Stepanov and chief content officer Aron Dunn are currently shopping the series to potential buyers at MIPCOM in Cannes, which runs until Thursday (Oct. 19).

The series centres on a lawyer who partners with a deceased attorney to create a law firm with the mission of representing ghosts.
