Citytv’s Law & Order Canadian spinoff gets underway

Tassie Cameron serves as showrunner, with Karen Robinson and Kathleen Munroe among the all-Canadian cast.

The case is officially open for Citytv’s upcoming crime procedural Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent.

The 10 x 60-minute Canadian spinoff of the long-running franchise from Dick Wolf is currently filming in Toronto, and will air on Citytv in spring 2024.

The series is produced by Vancouver’s Lark Productions and Toronto’s Cameron Pictures in association with Citytv. Tassie Cameron serves as showrunner and executive producer. Universal Television handles distribution.

Additional EPs include Erin Haskett, Amy Cameron, David Valleau, Alex Patrick and Holly Dale, who is also a director on multiple episodes of the series, including the premiere. Tex Antonucci and Jillian Locke are co-executive producers, while Wanda Chaffey serves as producer and Caledonia Brown as co-producer.

Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent follows a group of Toronto detectives who investigate high-profile crimes in the metro area. The all-Canadian ensemble cast includes Aden Young (Rectify), Kathleen Munroe (City on Fire), Karen Robinson (Schitt’s Creek), K.C. Collins (The Cleaning Lady), Nicola Correia-Damude (Shadowhunters) and Araya Mengesha (Nobody).

Joining Dale in the directors’ chair for the debut season are Peter Stebbings, David Wellington, Sudz Sutherland, Rachel Leiterman, Winnifred Jong, Sharon Lewis and David Straiton.
