Playback Film Summit’s first lineup of speakers unveiled

The 2023 virtual summit will take place Oct. 24 and 25, featuring executives from Elevation Pictures, Game Theory Films and TIFF.

Executives at Elevation Pictures, levelFILM and the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) are among the first speakers announced for the 2023 Playback Film Summit.

Playback‘s third annual virtual summit will feature new case studies, industry panel discussions and networking opportunities with distributors, sales agents and buyers.

Adrian Love (pictured middle), EVP and general manager at Elevation, will join Matthew Miller, president of Zapruder Films, in a conversation about his company’s marketing push behind the feature-length version of Matt Johnson’s BlackBerry (Rhombus Media, Zapruder Films).

The case study will offer a deep dive into how the Canadian distributor developed and enacted a marketing campaign that led to one of the biggest opening weekends for a Canadian film in years.

Also joining the summit speaker list are TIFF’s chief programming officer, Anita Lee (pictured left); Olivier Gauthier-Mercier, VP, distribution at levelFILM; and Hilary Hart (pictured right), co-president of Game Theory Films.

The trio will join moderator Lindsay Blair Goeldner, VP of production at Fae Pictures, for a panel discussion on modern strategies for finding the right audience for an indie film.

The 2023 Playback Film Summit will take place on Oct. 24 and 25. Information on additional speakers will be announced soon.
