The Vancouver-set ER drama is created by B.C. duo Ken Kabatoff and Christopher Nash.

Toronto-based media company Titan1Studios is developing a medical drama series with writers Ken Kabatoff and Christopher Nash.

Pacific General is billed as “a modern ER drama for a Canadian audience” and set in Vancouver. The series is created by Kabatoff and writing partner Nash, who are also executive producers alongside Titan1’s CEO Rathan Moorthy and VP, content Wes Ambrecht, according to a news release.

The series centres on a diverse group of doctors and nurses who tackle the challenges of working in the ER of an underfunded Vancouver hospital.

Kabatoff was previously a writer and coproducer on the Netflix series Travelers, produced by Toronto prodco Peacock Alley Entertainment.

“The healthcare system is a constant source of fear and hope for all of us. Pacific General sheds light on the challenges burdening our current system, like underfunded hospitals and doctor and nurse shortages, but it also presents a glimpse of its true potential—if we simply cared for one another a little bit more,” said Kabatoff and Nash in a joint statement.

Moorthy added: “We are delighted to be in business with Kabatoff and Nash, a dynamic writing team that share our sensibilities and passion for storytelling. Pacific General will examine the real dichotomy of societies that exists in Vancouver’s east end, a community replete with both opulence and homelessness, explored through the lens of Universal Healthcare.”

Pacific General follows another Titan1 series currently in development, the climate crisis procedural Breaking Point by screenwriter Abdul Malik.
