Production is underway on the second season of Stratford, Ont.-based Ballinran Entertainment’s culinary series Farm to Fork.
Filming on the 6 x 10-minute second season kicked off in the Waterloo region earlier this month and wraps in late September. It is scheduled for an early 2024 debut on Bell Fibe TV1, according to a news release.
The second season, produced with a total budget of $150,000, will once again follow Chef Nick Benninger as he visits family farms in the Waterloo region, highlighting their stories and operations before concluding with a meal that he prepares for them using their ingredients over his signature open fire.
Ballinran’s executive producer Craig Thompson said in a statement that the series is part of the company’s strategy “to expand the slate of home-grown productions in all genres to create skilled jobs and develop a sustainable screen industry in Southwestern Ontario.”
Farm to Fork is produced with the support of Explore Waterloo Region, the area’s tourism promotion agency.
Bell Fibe TV1 commissioned the series after a pitch in 2021 from Thompson and Julian Wierzbicki of Waterloo’s Golden Section Productions, said the release.
“We want to capture the motivation of these farmers who work tirelessly, often seven days a week, and match that up with Nick’s passion for creating a meal with what he can source directly on the farm,” said Wierzbicki in a statement.
Episodes from season one of the series are available on Bell Fibe TV, Channel 1, and the Fibe TV app.
