Production is underway on the second season of the Canada-Australia copro Stuff the British Stole, co-commissioned by CBC and ABC.
The globetrotting eight-part series is filming at multiple international locations, some of which were teased on social media. Season two will air on ABC, ABC iview, CBC and CBC Gem in 2024, a news release stated.
Stuff the British Stole is coproduced by Toronto’s Cream Productions, and Australia’s Wooden Horse and WildBear Entertainment. Fremantle is the worldwide distributor of the series.
Stuff the British Stole is created, written and hosted by journalist Marc Fennell, who is also an executive producer alongside Cream Productions’ David Brady and Kate Harrison, Wooden Horse’s Richard Finlayson and Jude Troy, and WildBear Entertainment’s Alan Erson and Michael Tear.
The new season will explore eight new treasures “acquired through the years of the British Empire,” said the release.
“Audiences were captivated by this series which found a new and engaging way to tell the complex and multifaceted history of the British Empire and its impact across the globe,” said Jennifer Dettman, CBC executive director of unscripted content, in a statement.
Kalita Corrigan, commissioning editor for ABC factual and culture added: “The first season was wholeheartedly embraced by audiences and critics, so we’re thrilled that Marc and the team are back to shed light on the cultural, historical and societal significance of eight new mysterious artefacts amassed by the British Empire.”
The series is produced in association with VicScreen. Financing is provided by Screen Australia, the Canada Media Fund, Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit and Ontario Creates.
The first season of Stuff the British Stole is available to stream on ABC iview and CBC Gem.
