WildBrain expands content deals with Prime Video, Amazon Kids+

WildBrain has sold more than 850 episodes from its library to Amazon's VOD platforms as part of the recent deals.

Toronto-headquartered kids and family entertainment company WildBrain is expanding its content offering to Amazon’s subscription-based VOD services through deals signed with Amazon Kids+ in the U.S. and Prime Video in Germany.

Amazon Kids+ in the U.S. has acquired 132 episodes of WildBrain content, including seasons one and two of the company’s original animated series, Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City (80 x 4 minutes; pictured) alongside seasons four and five of WildBrain and Mattel’s 2D-animated Polly Pocket series (52 x 11 minutes), plus the Polly Pocket – Sparkle Cove 66-minute extended special.

The deal also includes two movies from WildBrain’s library: the 44-minute 3D-animated Ghost Patrol, produced by Eh-Okay Entertainment, and the 60-minute live-action film, The Kid Who Only Hit Homers, from MiMO Studios.

Prime Video in Germany has acquired a total of 218 episodes, including 90 episodes of WildBrain’s 2017 Teletubbies series (90 x 15 minutes), the animated comedy Dorg Van Dango (52 x 11 minutes) from Cartoon Saloon and season one of the live-action family drama Ruby and the Well (10 x 60 minutes), produced by Toronto’s Shaftesbury.

The deal also includes seasons 14 and 15 (52 x 11 minutes) of WildBrain and Mattel’s CG-animated Fireman Sam, alongside three 60-minute Fireman Sam specials: The Great Fire of Pontypandy; Set for Action! and Norman Price and the Mystery in the Sky.

The acquisitions follow a deal announced earlier this year with Prime Video Germany for season one of Summer Memories (40 x 12 minutes), the 2D-animated comedy created by Adam Yaniv and produced by A&N Productions, Aircraft Pictures and Yeti Farm Creative.

Prime Video acquired nearly 500 episodes of WildBrain’s Degrassi franchise for Canada, Australia and New Zealand in July. Collectively, the deals comprise a total of more than 850 episodes, movies and specials from WildBrain’s library of original and partner content, according to a news release.

“The global demand for WildBrain’s deep library of content remains strong across all kids’ and family demographics, from preschool to kids to teens,” said Caroline Tyre, VP, global sales and rights strategy, WildBrain, in a statement.
