Star Trek franchise lands at Paramount+ in Canada

Bell Media has confirmed that the majority of Star Trek titles have been phased out on Crave.

The Star Trek franchise is headed to its next streaming frontier in Canada.

Paramount+ announced Tuesday (Aug. 1) that it will be the new streaming home in the Canadian market for the more than 800-episode and multi-feature Star Trek catalogue. Paramount Global Content Distribution is the distributor for the franchise titles.

The first two seasons of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (pictured) are now available on Paramount+, joining pre-existing titles Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard, as well as every Star Trek feature film, according to a news release.

Titles to be added to Paramount+ in the next month include Star Trek: The Next Generation (Aug. 8), Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (Aug. 15), Star Trek: Voyager (Aug. 22) and Star Trek: Enterprise (Aug. 29). Star Trek: The Animated Series and Star Trek: The Original Series will be added on Sept. 5.

Bell Media’s existing licensing agreement for Star Trek titles has now changed, the broadcaster has confirmed to Playback Daily in a statement.

The majority of Star Trek content on Bell’s streaming platform Crave has been phased out as of Tuesday, with the exception of new episodes of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. “However, CTV Sci-Fi continues to be the exclusive Canadian broadcast home of Star Trek, and this content will continue to live on CTV.ca and the CTV app,” read Bell Media’s statement.

Upcoming Star Trek titles headed to Paramount+ in Canada are the original series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy and the “movie event” Star Trek: Section 31, which stars Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh as she reprises her Star Trek: Discovery character. Both titles are produced by CBS Studios.
